1. Worldly Peace is Temporary and Fragile
* The peace the world sells us is counterfeit. It can’t heal, it can’t last, and it can’t reach the places that actually hurt. So every January 1st, when the lights come down and the music stops, the emptiness rushes back in and most people feel it. What they thought was peace was only a pause.
2. The Peace of God is Internal and Unbreakable
* Peace is internal and stems from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
* There is no true peace apart from Christ. He solves the biggest issues with the peace that the world has to offer.
* Peace is total well-being, prosperity, and security associated with God’s presence among his people.
3. The two types of “peace” collide at Christmas
* This season forces us to reckon with the truth, peace isn’t some universal cease-fire, but peace is really concerned about our relationship with God.
This Advent
* Seek peace within and receive the peace afresh this advent that Jesus provides.
* Seek peace in the church, repent fast and forgive faster.
* Seek to be peacemakers in all your interactions with a watching world.
