The Armor of God (note: v.13-17 )
* Belt of Truth: When you align yourself with truth, that there’s right and wrong, a proper way of things. You will be able to hold fast against the father of lies when he comes.
* Breastplate of Righteousness: The breastplate of righteousness says that living our lives in a proper way, protects us and enables us to stand against the accusations that Satan tries to bring against us.
* Shoes of the Gospel of Peace: The gospel of peace is the marvelous truth that in Christ we are now at peace with God and are one with Him. Therefore, when our feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, we stand in the confidence of God’s love for us, his union with us, and his commitment to fight for us.
* Shield of Faith: The shield of faith protects us by trusting in God’s promises, stopping the devil’s fiery arrows of accusation and temptation. This trust in Jesus, who fights for us, enables us to stand firm in spiritual warfare.
* Helmet of Salvation: The helmet of salvation secures our mind, assuring us of our eternal salvation through Christ's finished work.
* Sword of the Spirit: The Christian who does not know God’s Word well cannot use it well. Satan will invariably find out where we are ignorant or confused and attack us there. Scripture is not a broadsword to be waved indiscriminately, but a dagger to be used with great precision.
So now what?
* Put on the full armor of God. Make them your own, living in truth, walking in righteousness, developing your faith, standing on the gospel talking hold of your salvation.
