Our union with Christ is the basis of everything. Every good and perfect gift that we have, is all founded on the fact that we are one with Christ.
7 Benefits from our Union with Christ
1. We are joined with Christ. (note: 1 Corinthians 6:17)
- The first benefit we get from our union with Christ is that we are joined with Christ. We are one with him
2. We are citizens of Israel. (note: Romans 11:13-26)
- Christ is THE citizen of Israel. If he is a citizen and we are one with him, then in Christ we belong to Israel.
3. We are native to the Covenant Promises. (note: 2 Corinthians 1:20; Isaiah 49:6)
- Because we are in Christ, and Christ is the true owner or the fulfillment of all the promises of Israel, we now share in all those promises.
4. We have Hope.
- We have hope, because we know that all of the promises that God has given can now be said to include us.
5. We Have God.
- No Jew or anyone else can now look to any believer and say, you have no place in God
6. We have Peace. (note: Romans 7:1-2,4)
- He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups. (note: v. 15)
7. We have Unity.
- In Christ there is unity instead of division
So now what?
- Live as one with him, display his reconciling love, and trust him to fulfill all he has promised.
